About (curriculum vitae)

Ian Mahanpour is a writer, scholar, and musician who works primarily in environmental music and technological studies.

Kouroush is his ambient music outfit. His instrumental improvisations ebb and flow within generative electronic soundscapes whose vague telos strives to align the visceral with broader environmental awareness.

Many of his writings are published on his substack, where he analyzes albums and provides book reviews exploring the limits and ends of ambience.

He is a graduate of Northwestern University, and currently attends UC Berkeley as a graduate student in the music department.
